Residence Registration FAQ

• Can I register my apartment as my residence in Vienna?
  Yes! Depending on your rental period: • Up to 6 months → You can register it as a secondary residence • Up to 36 months → You can register it as your main residence
• Will I receive a registration certificate?
  Yes! You will receive your registration certificate (Meldezettel) with your rental contract.
• What do I do with the registration certificate?
  Once you receive your Meldezettel, you must register your address in Vienna within three days of moving in. Visit your local Meldeamt (registration office) with: • ✅ Your passport or ID • ✅ Your Meldezettel (registration certificate) signed by your landlord 💡 You can find the nearest Meldeamt and book an appointment online at www.wien.gv.at
